SHG Radio Show, Episode 062

Welcome to this week's edition of Subterranean Homesick Grooves™, a weekly electronica-based radio show presented on CHMA FM 106.9 at Mount Allison University in Atlantic Canada, and also distributed as a global podcast through iTunes and numerous other sites. The show is normally programmed and mixed by Jonathan Clark (as DJ Bolivia), although some weeks feature guest mixes by other Canadian DJ's. The show encompasses many sub-genres within the realm of electronic dance music, but the main focus is definitely on progressive and tribal house, and a small amount of trance & techno. Liner notes for this episode (062) can be seen below.

Para la información en español, vaya aquí.

By the way, if you're looking for DJ mixes in styles other than progressive/tech-house, check out www.djbolivia.ca/mixes.html. That page has a number of mainstream/top40 dance mixes (the "Workout Mix" series), as well as some deep house, drum and bass, and other styles.

Here's our Podcast Feed to paste into iTunes or any other podcatcher:

Older episodes of the show are not directly available from our main servers anymore, to conserve space for more recent episodes. However, all older episodes have been posted individually on SoundCloud, and also in archives of 25 episodes apiece (convenient for bulk downloading) from DJ Bolivia's Public Dropbox folder. That Dropbox link also has folders for individual tracks and remixes, project files and stem collections for producers who want to make their own remixes, videos, and other material. You don't even need to have a Dropbox account to download files from it.

If you're a producer who is interested in submitting music for possible inclusion on future episodes of SHG, visit DJ Bolivia's SoundCloud dropbox. Please note that not all submitted mixes will be played on the show. If you have a track that fits the format (progressive and/or tech-house), then your chances of having the track featured will increase.

If you're a radio station programming director, and would like to add Subterranean Homesick Grooves to your regular programming lineup, contact djbolivia@gmail.com for details. We currently release SHG as an advance download to a number of stations globally on a weekly basis (at no charge), and we welcome inquiries from additional outlets.

Upbeat Workout Music, Mix #05

This one took a few weeks longer than I had hoped to put together. I started picking all the tracks a month ago, when I was driving across Canada for a summer of work in western Canada's silviculture industry, but I've been so busy that I just finally got a chance to finish it early this morning.

The mix is an hour long, and anyone can download it (the link is near the bottom of this post). The mix that you can download here doesn't have any personal or radio station promos in it, so it will be great if it's being played in a gym. This mix is for demo purposes only, and commercial resale or redistribution is not permitted.

Here are Track Listings for Workout Mix #05:

01. Avril Lavigne, "What The Hell" (Mikael Wills Remix).
02. Diddy & Dirty Money, "Coming Home" (Dirty South Club Mix).
03. George Acosta feat Kate Walsh, "Nite Time" (Original Mix).
04. Alexandra Stan, "Mr Saxobeat" (Extended Mix).
05. Adrian Lux, "Teenage Crime" (Axwell and Henrik B Remode).
06. Adele, "Rolling In The Deep" (Melvin Reese Mix).
07. Emii feat Snoop Dogg, "Mr Romeo" (Ralphi Rosario Club Mix).
08. Antoine Clamaran feat Soraya, "Live Your Dreams" (Extended Mix).
09. Cybersutra feat Sarah Mattea, "Dirty Gurrl" (Cybersutra Mix).
10. Sarah McLeod, "White Horse" (Whelan & Di Scala Club Mix).
11. Swedish House Mafia feat John Martin, "Save The World" (Bastian Van Shield Remix).
12. Milk & Sugar vs. Vaya Con Dios, "Hey, Nah Neh Nah" (Milk & Sugar Club Mix).
13. Tiesto & Mark Knight, "Beautiful World" (Original Club Mix).
14. One Republic, "All The Right Moves" (Dave Aude Club Mix).

Note: If you're trying to track down remixes listed above and they sound different than what you're hearing in this mix, it's because I do a lot of specific editing of my own to each track before I put the mix together, and there is a lot of extra percussion added.

To download any of the previous mixes in the Workout Music series, go to:
   http://www.djbolivia.ca/workout.html

I have lots of other upbeat electronica mixes available on my DJ website, on the Mix Downloads page. Admittedly, there aren't too many mixes there [yet] that are exclusively club dance tracks, but there are a lot of house/trance mixes that I find to be pretty good to listen to when I'm going running. Or driving. Or doing any sort of mindless task where I just want some energetic beats to listen to. Most of them are about an hour long, to fit onto a standard CD. Check them out, maybe you'd enjoy some of them?

This mix can be downloaded as part of an archive of all 12 of DJ Bolivia's older workout mixes, from the following Google Drive link:

The mixes (produced between 2010 and 2014) are compressed as a RAR archive, which can be opened natively in Windows.  If you're using a Mac, you can use a free utility to open the RAR (popular examples are "The Unarchiver" and the "UnRarX" app).  The password to open the archive is simply 'bolivia' and the size of the download is 1.6 gigabytes.  If you have problems downloading this archive from the above Google Drive link, you can email DJ Bolivia at djbolivia@gmail.com for an alternate download link.

Additional information about finding any of DJ Bolivia's older mixes can be found at this link:

Thanks for your interest in these old historical mixes!

I'd love to see this shared around more. If you're a member of any sort of workout or fitness website or message board, feel free to post a link to this post there (or click on the tweet or like buttons below).

br /> This is the first week of the "summer" for me, when I spend almost four months working on the opposite side of Canada from my regular studio and home, in the reforestation industry. Last summer, I was lucky enough to get a number of guest mixes from friends of mine, to keep the radio show going while I was on my summer work contract. Thanks to some advances in technology, I intend to keep producing the show myself from a "portable studio" while I'm working in the bush. I don't imagine many DJ's set up their studios in a tent in the woods.
